Cartografie del passato e GIS per l’analisi delle trasformazioni del paesaggio

Abstract

Il contributo si propone di illustrare la metodologia elaborata per l’acquisizione, all’interno di un GIS, di fonti cartografiche storiche al fine di ricostruire i passati assetti territoriali e le trasformazioni del paesaggio. La ricerca è stata focalizzata sull’individuazione e analisi dei mutamenti della rete idrografica e della viabilità nella prima metà dell’Ottocento. L’area presa in esame è rappresentata dalle zone umide della bassa Val di Cornia, nella Toscana meridionale. I dati sono stati ricavati da cartografia pregeodetica e catastale storica.

This contribution proposes an illustration of the methodology elaborated for the acquisition of historical cartographic sources within a GIS to reconstruct the territorial orders and landscape transformations of the past. The research was focused on the individuation and analysis of changes in the hydrographic and road networks in the early 1800s. The zone being examined is represented by the wetlands of the lower Val di Cornia in southern Tuscany. The data were gathered from pre-geodetic and historical cadastral cartography.
