Una metodologia interdisciplinare e partecipativa per contribuire al rafforzamento della filiera agroalimentare del Mediterraneo

Abstract

UNA METODOLOGIA INTERDISCIPLINARE E PARTECIPATIVA PER CONTRIBUIRE AL RAFFORZAMENTO DELLA FILIERA AGROALIMENTARE DEL MEDITERRANEO – I cambiamenti climatici in atto a livello globale hanno ricadute significative sulla sicurezza e sulla stabilità dell’ambiente naturale e di quello antropico, influenzando specialmente i sistemi agroalimentari in termini di qualità e resa dei prodotti agricoli, nonché di disponibilità e approvvigionamento idrico. Questa situazione può generare notevoli ripercussioni socio-economiche soprattutto nelle aree rurali più svantaggiate e marginali. Negli ultimi anni, la cooperazione transfrontaliera nel bacino del Mediterraneo ha assunto un ruolo sempre più importante in materia di ricerca e innovazione, contribuendo a determinare impatti significativi in termini di adattamento e resilienza ai cambiamenti climatici. Queste le premesse per raccontare un’esperienza progettuale che, prendendo spunto da una best practice italiana, va man mano costituendosi nei territori delle due sponde del Mediterraneo, coinvolgendo alcuni paesi della regione MENA. La creazione del network euromediterraneo, improntato su un approccio interdisciplinare e multiattoriale, ha l’obiettivo generale di contribuire ad aumentare la capacità di resilienza dei sistemi agricoli e rurali, rafforzando l’intera catena alimentare attraverso l’adozione del modello di land suitability, l’implementazione dei dati in ambiente GIS, la sperimentazione sul campo di nuove pratiche agricole e di nuovi modelli commerciali.

AN INTERDISCIPLINARY AND PARTICIPATORY METHODOLOGY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE STRENGTHENING OF THE MEDITERRANEAN AGRI-FOOD CHAIN – Ongoing global climate change has significant impacts on the security and stability of natural and human systems, especially affecting agri-food systems in terms of quality and yield of agricultural products, as well as water availability and supply. This situation can produce significant socio-economic impacts especially in the most disadvantaged and marginal rural areas. In recent years, cross-border cooperation in the Mediterranean basin has assumed an increasingly important role in research and innovation, contributing to significant impacts in terms of adaptation and resilience to climate change. This is the framework for highlighting the main outlines of a project that is gradually being established in the territories of the two shores of the Mediterranean (taking its starting point from an Italian best practice), involving a number of countries in the MENA region. The creation of the Euro-Mediterranean network, marked by an interdisciplinary and multi-actor approach, has the overall objective of increasing the resilience of agricultural and rural systems, strengthening the entire food chain through the adoption of the land suitability model, the implementation of data in a GIS environment, and the field testing of new agricultural practices and business models.
