Funzioni urbane e politiche per la città: la storia di Como nei documenti d’archivio, fino all’odierna impasse
Abstract
La struttura della città di Como e il suo lungo lago in particolare sono stati storicamente modificati secondo le funzioni urbane prevalenti ed il contesto storico, economico e politico: da porto militare a bastione a porto commerciale a città turistica e poi industriale. Attraverso lo studio delle fonti storiche, geografiche e cartografiche (con particolare attenzione alle carte conservate presso la Biblioteca Comunale), questo contributo intende leggere, di epoca in epoca, le diverse progettualità territoriali di Como comparativamente alle esigenze ed alle funzioni prevalenti della città. La ricostruzione mira a collegare le principali trasformazioni urbane a precise elaborazioni cartografiche e progettualità, riconducendo l'odierna prolungata crisi urbanistica del lungo lago comasco (il principale spazio sociale e ricreativo è un cantiere chiuso dal 2007) proprio alla mancanza di un'idea, di una visione sociale e funzionale della città del domani. Che non può prescindere dallo studio del passato, recente e remoto.
The structure of the city of Como and its waterfront have been historically modified in accord with the prevailing urban functions and the historical, economic and political context: from military harbor to bastion to commercial port to a tourist city and then industrial town. Through the study of historical, geographic and cartographic sources (with particular attention to the cartography held at the Municipal Library), this article wants to interpret, through the ages, the different territorial plannings of Como city, paying attention to the necessities and prevailing functions of the town. The reconstruction seeks to connect the main urban transformations to precise mapping elaboration and projects, attributing the current prolonged urban crisis of the Como waterfront (the main social and recreational area is a closed construction yard since 2007) precisely to the lack of an idea, of a social and functional vision of tomorrow's city. All of this can not be disregarded by the study of the recent and remote past.
